Written while watching an aurora back in November, this poem is definitely a lot different than what I normally write. While my writings are normally about trauma and the everlasting pain I experience, this poem offers glimpses of hope when all seemed dark.

oh look at caiti, she is dancing
under a rainbow sky, she is prancing
the dancing spotlights cover thee
under the rainbow lights, she is free
reds and greens, all above
she knows that this is love
the ranbow skies fill her heart
the colours that she denies to part
rainbows she hopes fail to depart
a gradient all from the start
“the coloured skies define my entity
they make up every part of me”
and she says
“the reds make up all the parts of me
that tries to love, tries to heal
the greens make up all the parts of me
that tries to grow, tries to feel
i’m determined to get better
piece by piece, letter by letter
a cause i am determined to tether
piece by piece, letter by letter”
pinks and blues, all above
she knows that this is love
the painted skies that fill her heart
the colours she denies to part
oh, please let her be free
oh, please let her be free
and she says
the pink makes up all the parts of me
stay rosy, stay golden, carry on
the blue makes up all the parts of me
it’s okay to be sad even when moving on
i am determined to get better
piece by piece, letter by letter
a cause i am determined to tether
piece by piece, letter by letter”
the painted skies will heal her
love up above will seal her
the rainbow spotlights cover thee
under the colours she is free
